Welcome
Tucson Off-Road is an off-road community that enjoys all types of off-road adventures ranging from rock crawling to exploration. Formed in September of 2006, TOR started off with only a handful of members, a variety of rigs and one common goal.....to unite the off-roading community in Tucson Arizona.
We have rigs that range from 2wd Hondas to rock crawling Jeeps. Our members share the same variety. We have young and old alike, and when we put our minds to it, we can accomplish any goal. Whether its the fabrication of a members bumper, or the cleanup of a local trail....Tucson Off-Road gets it done.
We're glad that you found our site. Be sure to visit our forum as well. We are constantly posting photos, trip reports and just discussing our hobby in general. We look forward to hearing from you and and seeing you on the trails!

| Change Your Differential Fluid Published: June 23, 2008 Print Email
Underneath all of our 4x4 machines exists two axles / differentials in most cases. Whether your rig is a purpose built rock buggy extreme machine, or a stock jeep, ignorning your differential fluid is a bad idea. The gears inside of those differentials are what keep you moving. With out those, you're not going anywhere...no matter how much horsepower you've got... The other thing to keep in mind is that a small investment of fresh oil and timely changes will keep your gears alive MUCH longer. In this article, I'll cover the basic process of changing your own diff fluid including what you need, how often you should change fluid, and the differences in some of the products out there. This article will cover all aspects of this for new wheelers and veterans alike. Read More... |
| Got Traction - Lockers & Other Traction Devices Published: June 23, 2008 Print Email
In our sport, the conversation always seems to turn to improving performance. What's the most important word in our sport... traction. Better traction generally boils down to two components, your tires and differentials. Quality tires designed for offroad make a world of difference in your ability to find traction and have fun. But if a tire is not turning due to a lack of power being sent to that tire, the best tires in the world won't help you. That's where the right differential makes a difference. This article will attempt to explain what role your differential plays in traction and the different types of differentials available on the market and how they will affect your vehicle's traction and handling characteristics.
