The Engine Swap Continues

Engine on stand.jpg (58440 bytes)Picture of the 16V on the

engine Stand. There were initial

indications that the engine may

have been overheated. After a

minor tear down there did not seem

to be any serious damage.

I installed a Tracker power steering system and On Board Air using the original brackets. The previous owner had the Tracker power steering set up which he gave me when I bought the Samurai.

When I bought the donor vehicle the previous owner of it had the air conditioning compressor and one of the main brackets. I wound up purchasing a used Tracker A/C system to get the lower A/C compressor bracket.

Petroworks modified one of the brackets so the Power Steering pump could be pulled up closer to the engine. This was required, otherwise the pump hits the radiator mounting bracket. Petroworks also  supplied a "Wedge" to reposition the steering gear box for better alignment of the steering shaft and the gear box.

OBA rough in.jpg (114771 bytes)

This is the original rough in picture of the OBA

and Power Steering. The power steering pump is

jammed against the radiator mounting bracket and

the power steering gearbox. There is no way to move

it. At this point I decided to remove these components

and stick with running CO2 and steering by "Armstrong".

I started doing some research on Zukikrawlers and

found some write ups that pointed me to Petroworks

and their "Wedge" and bracket modification.

Another picture of how tight

the area is around the OBA compressor

and the power steering pump.

I had to manufacture a fitting for fluid supply

to the Power Steering Pump.
