Zukapalooza 2009 Zukapalooza 2009 was held in in Cottonwood, Arizona on Memorial Day weekend.
The event was sponsored by Zuks of Arizona with the Lion's Share of the work being done by Myron Thorson of ZuksOff Road and Scott Senko. Zuks Off Road was also a major vendor sponsor of this event
Suzuki's and other rigs showed up from as far away as Utah and Arkansas to attend the event. I traveled to Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood, AZ from Tucson on Friday for a weekend of camping, wheeling and just a good weekend with good people.
The weather made for a tough weekend. It rained most of the weekend, sometimes so hard it flooded the area. Even with the weather not cooperating, it was a great weekend and I have all intentions of wheeling at ZP "O" 10.
pretty wet on my arrival. I got my tent set up as soon as I could because I knew the rain was on the way.
Some of the camping area. Quite a bit of mud already.
I ran a trail called Smiley Rock on Saturday. Here is a picture of Rhinozuki before things really started getting muddy. It stayed pretty clear in the area we were running the trail.
Taking a little break on the trail on the way to Smiley Rock.
There was mud everywhere. In my tools, cooler and every crevice of Rhinozuki
by a huge rainstorm. There was also a microburst that wiped out some of the tents. Some pop up shade Gazebos were never recovered. This is just a picture of the water and mud left behind.
A picture of a little bit of the storm damage. A couple of Shade Gazebos that were trashed.
This is how I found my tent. It was a victim of the microburst. It took a lot of mopping and cleaning to get to the point of being able to sleep in it for the night.
This is what was left of my shade Gazebo. I gave what was left of it to one of the guys camping nearby.
originally sat prior to the microburst. A lot of mud and other nasty stuff
A bunch of folks gathering at the Ramada Saturday evening. The meal was Pizza and Lasagna brought in by a local vendor. Great food. I won some springs for a 3" lift and gave them to a kid here in Tucson to use on his stock rig.
Another victim of the microburst. These folks just went to town and got a hotel room. A couple of Love Buggies playing prior to dinner Saturday evening.
Water line on a Samurai parked near the restroom area.
